Our Beliefs

The Holy Scriptures

The Bible is God-Inspired and completely trustworthy.

2 Tim 3:16, 17 – All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

The Eternal Godhead

God is triune. He is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit

2 Corinthians 13:14 – “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.”

The Fall of Man

Man was created in the image of God, but by voluntary disobedience, we fell from perfection.

Romans 5:12 – “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—”

The Plan of Salvation

After our fall, God immediately began working his plan for our redemption, which culminated in the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of His Son, Jesus.

Galatians 5:4 – “In the same way we also, when we were children, were enslaved to the elementary principles of the world. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.”

Repentance

God’s forgiveness of our sins can only be received when we turn away from our sins and back toward Him.

Luke 24:46-47 – “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.”

Salvation through Grace

We must trust in the Lord to receive salvation, it is not something we produce ourselves, and we can only do this because He is so gracious.

Ephesians 2:8-9 – For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

The New Birth

When we place our trust in Jesus, to follow and obey Him as Lord, a true transformation of life takes place.

2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

Galatians 2:20 – “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

Water Baptism

All who desire to follow Jesus are called to be baptized in water as an outward sign of repentance, cleansing, and as a public declaration of Jesus becoming Lord of your life.

Act 2:38 – “And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

Born-again believers are able to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which empowers us to live out God’s will.

Acts 1:5 – “for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

The Spirit-Filled Life

The Holy Spirit gives various gifts to believers and enables us to bear spiritual fruit as evidence of His indwelling.

1 Cor. 12:7-10 – “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.”

Gal. 5:22 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”

Being Holy

The daily walk of the believer is to be conformed to the image of Christ, living as salt and light in our culture.

Rom. 12:1-2 – “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

The Church

We believe the Church is one body, composed of all who put their faith in Jesus Christ, who is the head. Every member of the body is called to pray, worship, and serve alongside their brothers and sisters in Christ.

Ephesians 4:15-16 – “Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.”

Discipleship

Not only are we called to follow the Lord Jesus as individuals or communities, but the Church is commissioned to make disciples of Jesus among all peoples, everywhere.

Matt. 28:18-20 – “And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Evangelism & Witness

All believers are commissioned by our Lord Jesus to testify about the Good News of God’s Kingdom throughout the world.

Acts 1:8 – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Signs, Wonders, & Miracles

We should expect, as followers of Jesus, for miracles to be a regular part of our lives.

Mark 16:17-18 – “And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Tithes & Offerings

God has a clear method for providing for His work and those in need  through habitual and special generosity, which in turn brings abundant blessing into our lives.

Malachi 3:10 – “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.”

Civil Government

Leaders in government should be upheld at all times in prayer, that they might know and carry out the will of God.

1 Tim 2:1-2 – Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”

The Second Coming of Christ

The greatest hope for followers of Jesus is that at the end of the age, He will return to this earth physically and visibly, in power and great glory. He will gather His elect, raise the dead, judge the nations, and establish His Kingdom.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 – For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”

The Final Judgement

At the end of this present age, all shall stand before the judgment seat of God and receive eternal life or eternal death.

Rev. 20:11-12 – “Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.”

The Second Death

The Lake of Fire is the place of torment where all who reject Christ as Lord and Savior will spend eternity.

Rev. 20:14-15 – “Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”

Eternal Life

The new Heavens and the new Earth are the glorious home where born-again followers of Jesus will eternally be with God.

Rev. 21:1-3 – “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.”
